Held over the week of February 21-24, Besant Hill School celebrated International Week 2023!
Each day provided opportunities to honor the school’s historical and ongoing commitment to cultural diversity. Activities were designed to bring the community together and included Sword Fighting, food from around the world, and a field trip to Olvera Street and the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA).
Another highlight of the week was the student-taught foreign language classes. After first training with Humanities Department Chair Nestor for several weeks, students displayed their teaching skills as they led classes in their native languages. “The most challenging thing that Nestor told us was not to speak English during class time. I realized it is hard to explain something if the students only understand a few words that we are saying. However, it was a fun experience.” – Yue S. ’26
Since its inception, Besant Hill School has provided a welcoming home to a diverse and international student community. This yearly tribute to past, present, and future responsibility to recognize and celebrate this commitment to their founders’ vision is a tradition they will always hold close to their hearts.
