Whether you are interested in pursuing a career in science, the arts, or anything in between, Besant Hill School could be the perfect place to begin your journey. Let’s take a closer look at a typical day in the life of students at Besant Hill:
6:30 am – Wake up (or snooze the alarm a few times), get ready, and remind roommates not to oversleep.
7:00 am – Breakfast time! Sit down with friends, take your pick from the breakfast buffet and grab some fruit to-go.
8:30 am – It’s experiential learning in AP Environmental Science class with water testing along the main road into campus.
9:40 am – The creative writing class has been exploring various forms and techniques of comedy writing. To fuel their creativity, they head to a local coffee shop to put the finishing touches to their stories. Words flow better with coffee!
10:50 am – Time to get artsy! Inspired by the Abstract Expressionist Movement, the Art History students walk around campus, collecting items in nature that they could use to make different marks with. Just like the artists they learned about, they listen to Mid Century Jazz while they paint to imitate the sounds they are hearing on paper.
12:00 pm – After morning classes, students break for lunch, which is an opportunity to socialize with friends and catch up on the latest news and events. The school provides a variety of healthy and delicious meals for students, ensuring that everyone is well-fed and energized for the rest of the day.
1:00 pm – During assembly, acting students present their 1st-semester final performances of Shakespearean scenes and Performing Arts Students sang selections from Benjamin Brittany’s Ceremony of Carols.
2:15 pm – Finishing the academic day with Fitness! So many options to try out: outdoor sports like rock climbing and surfing, well-trained fitness professionals for weight-lifting and yoga, and local veteran dancers and performers.
3:30 pm – Is it Wednesday? Yes! Students have the opportunity to head to downtown Ojai for some time off-campus or community service opportunities.
5:30 pm – Dinner is Italian themed tonight. Bring on the pasta, meatballs, breadsticks, and let’s not forget dessert! After dinner students volunteer to help the kitchen crew with dishes and clean up.
7:00 pm – Dedicated time during study hall to complete homework, catch up on any missed work from the day, and get some extra help from teachers.
9:00 pm – With homework and studying complete, students are free to spend their evenings as they please. Some students choose to watch movies or play games, while others prefer to participate in group activities, such as group discussions or social events.
11:00 pm – Lights Out!
